How to Choose a Beanie? A Guide for the Undecided

WILK or JELEŃ? – that is the question you, our customers, ask yourselves and us every day. To help you make the right choice, we’ve prepared a short guide on how to choose the right beanie for your head. Here you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most often!

1. I have a large head 👩🏼🦰

Thick hair and a large head circumference can sometimes seem like serious obstacles when choosing a beanie. But not with us! Models such as .SOWA., our absolute classic .WILK. and .ŁOŚ. were specially designed with you in mind. The first is fluffy, the second is smooth, and the third has a delicate ribbed texture. All three fit the shape of your head perfectly and protect you from the cold ❄️

2. I have a small head 🤏🏽

There’s a solution for this too – if you feel that all our beanies will be too big for you and you don’t want them slipping over your eyes, choose more close-fitting styles. Remember that wool adapts quite well to the shape of your head – if your beanie isn’t worn by someone with a larger head circumference, it shouldn’t stretch. If it does happen, careful washing should help it return to its original shape 🤌🏼 Take a look at our ribbed .RYSIOWI. and cable-knit .OWCY.. If even these seem too roomy, try the children's .SÓWKA.

3. I want the thickest beanie 🌝

Heading on a polar expedition and need a beanie that can handle the conditions? Reach for .ŁOŚ. – two solid layers of wool across the entire surface will keep the cold at bay!

4. I want something thinner for outdoor activities 🏔️

There’s no single answer to this question – from the very beginning, we’ve assured you that wool is perfect for outdoor activities, and this isn’t just an opinion, but a fact ☝🏻 It has excellent moisture-wicking properties and is highly durable. It helps prevent overheating while keeping you warm, and when you sweat, it doesn’t retain unpleasant odours or leave you feeling chilled. Most of our beanies are perfect for trekking or skiing. If you’re looking for lightweight yet effective protection, choose the single-layer .JELEN.. And if you need complete freedom of movement, for example to accommodate a ponytail, go for our headband .LIS. 🦊

5. I want something extra soft and cosy 🧸

Merino wool is soft and delicate and, compared to other types of wool, such as mohair, generally doesn’t irritate the skin or feel itchy. However, some heads have particularly high demands and are looking for beanies that will gently wrap them in softness, soothe and comfort them. Once again, .SOWA. and the smaller children's .SÓWKA. come to the rescue. Instead of being made from 100% merino, they contain 51% merino, while the remaining 49% is combed cotton, which makes them exceptionally soft and fluffy ☁️

6. I want the best protection from the wind 💨

Sometimes you take our beanies on bike rides, for example, where the wind chill can make your ears feel cold. Not with us! In this situation, we recommend the .WILK. model, which has a fine and dense knit that provides excellent protection for your head. With it, even a strong mountain wind won’t be a problem! 🚵🏼♀️

You can also pair our wool beanies with scarves in matching colours – the model matching SOWA and SÓWKA as well as the other animal models 🧣. And if you prefer more minimalist neck warmers, you’ll find them here.

ADDITIONALLY:

  • .RYSIE. are also great for children!
  • Almost all of our beanies have an adjustable fold, so their depth can be adjusted and they can be worn either folded up or unfolded.
  • All our beanies are unisex – from experience, we know that in practice they are often borrowed by the opposite sex.
